Vote Ryan Abshagen in 2032!

Please keep in mind while reading this that I am only 17, and these are my political views so far.Candidates don't tend to change their position on important issues that this country faces(as seen in this election year), but keep in mind that this election is 24 years away. For all you and I know, I might have to enforce laser gun control instead of  Colt .45s. Thank you for keeping an open mind!

*Gay Rights- I firmly believe that the marriage refers to a bond between a man and a woman.  I support civil unions among the gay population, with people in civil unions being recipients of the same rights as married people.  

*The Environment- Global Warming is not a myth. It is not a lie. It is real, and it is man made. You can attribute some of it to the natural warming of the planet, but 95% of it has been caused by man. Global Warming is caused by the amount of Carbon you emit into the atmosphere.  *Gun Control-  Strenuous background checks, any past history of crime, imprisonment, or mental-hospitalization. If any of these things show up, you do not receive a gun. The government should regulate gun companies to make sure that their products cannot be converted into automatic weapons. States should be urged to require a permit for ALL WEAPONS. Even rifles. They should all have a serial number that can be traced back to the owner. 

*Abortion- The government should educate on all aspects of abortion, including mental, social and physical. I believe that the government does not have the right to tell someone what to do with their own body, now having said that,  I in no circumstances support abortion in any way, shape, or form. If I knew someone who was considering an abortion, I would strongly urge them not to have it. Only if the woman’s life were in danger would I even consider considering an abortion.  

*Public Schools- No Child Left Behind has been a thorn in educators’ sides everywhere for the past 7 years. All the money that is going into standardized testing and training for educators to teach to the NCLB standards (which as of now, is over 3 billion dollars) could be going to other things. I support a more individualized approach to education, because everyone learns at a different level. I also believe in performance based pay for teachers.

*NO UN-NECESSARY WARS-  Don't get me wrong, I support our troops, but don't send them where they don't need to be. We didn't NEED to go into Iraq. It wasn't an eminent threat to the USA at the time we went there. It has only made Iran stronger, by having a democracy run by a Shiite Government, and making the USA have a bad world image. We need to focus our time on Afghanistan, where the real threat is. The war in Iraq is not the war on terror, as most people think it is. Our reasons for going into Iraq were unjustified, but we are there now and we have an obligation to stay there until the Iraqi government can defend itself.
